Steps: Built - Tiled - Rendered - Painted

Here's another one of my favourite projects. I had to provide better access for a client who was finding it difficult to get from his driveway to the front door. The photos below show how I achieved this.

Favourite Projects

This is in my top ten favourite projects. The clients wanted: (i) their patio re-tiled (ii) to remove the old tiles from the steps and lay new ones (iii) to remove the existing "block rail" (iv) to insert a decorative metal handrail (v) to tile the walls enclosing the patio area.

Repairing & Insulating An Outdoor Swimming Pool

This outdoor swimming pool had been neglected for 20 years and was in urgent need for repairs. First job was to repair the damage to the sides of the pool. The base of the pool was level, so the next task was to create  "shallow" and "deep" ends. This was done by using insulation boards (this will help to reduce heat loss) and hard core. This area was then screaded to provide a smooth base for the lining.

Useful Tips On Becoming A Plasterer

Plastering is a skill that can be learnt quite quickly. You don't need special skills or expensive tools to get plastering work, just a willingness to work hard.
The easiest way to break in is to go to the local contractors and construction companies and start asking around. The key to getting the plastering jobs is to appear bright and "up for it", stay highly motivated and always listen and learn. As long as you pay attention and work hard,I will (like most experienced plasterers) actually enjoy showing you the ropes.
Also study and research as much as you can so you're familiar with the lingo and basic concepts.
